May is National Nurses Week and Women’s Health Month

Happy National Nurses Week! Did you know? National Nurses week ends on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

We thank all of our nurses for their hard work, dedication and care for our patients at Surgery Center Cedar Rapids!

May is also Women’s Health Month, which kicks off May 10th with National Women’s Health Week. The goal of the observance is to remind women to make their own health a priority and highlight ways to improve their health.

“There are so many ways to lead a healthy life. I can’t emphasize enough that staying active with daily movement and refraining from smoking and excessive alcohol intake are some essential steps.” says Dr. Kerri Nowell, a general surgery specialist and SCCR partner.

“Being proactive with routine surveillance (gynecological evaluation, mammograms, colonoscopy, etc) should be empowering to women to take control of their health and well-being.”
