Surgery Center Cedar Rapids staff, providers, and UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s administration explained to Congresswoman Hinson the role ambulatory surgery centers in providing high-quality care and low-cost outpatient option to our community. Surgery Center Cedar Rapids also explained the importance of their role during the COVID pandemic.
During the COVID pandemic, Surgery Center Cedar Rapids was able to provide staffing support to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s during their closure, stemming from Governor Reynolds March 2020 Proclamation to suspend all non-essential or elective procedures. In addition to staffing support, Surgery Center Cedar Rapids, also provided information to Congresswoman Ashley Hinson on the ability for their center to give PPE and other essential patient care items to assist UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s in caring for this patient population during this time.
The Surgery Center Cedar Rapids staff, providers, and UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s administration also discussed feedback on the positive impact of federal economic assistance for their facility and employees through the CARES Act Provider Relief Funds.
