Edward H. Hu, MD., Ph.D. is a board- certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Hu joined Wolfe Eye Clinic in 2021 and serves patients in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas. Dr. Hu specializes in advanced technology implant cataract surgery and provides comprehensive ophthalmology services.
Dr. Hu has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Physiology from the New York University School of Medicine. He obtained his Medical Degree from the New York University of Medicine and did a preliminary internship in internal medicine at the Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York. Dr. Hu went on to complete an ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa where he was awarded the prestigious P.J. Leinfelder Resident Research Award.
Dr. Hu is a member of the Christian Ophthalmic Surgical Expedition Network Surgeon and has helped perform almost 900 cataract surgeries on multiple mission trips to Montemorelos, Mexico. He also serves as a Board Member for the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology Alumni Council and has served on the Editorial Board for the American Academy of Ophthalmology Young Ophthalmologists.
Dr. Hu has published numerous research articles and is actively engaged in clinical research projects. He is a consultant and Key Opinion Leader for several cataract surgery industry partners and actively lectures on various topics of advanced cataract surgery technology.
