With her extensive background in obstetrics and gynecology, Jane A. Lyons, DO, FACOG sees women from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and surrounding areas. Dr. Lyons is currently accepting new patients at OB-GYN Associates, PC.
Dr. Lyons grew up in western Massachusetts and moved to Iowa in August 2007. Her first profession was in nursing and she worked for 8 years in a busy Boston hospital before she started medical school. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree at the University of New England in Maine and completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Dr. Lyons is board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Lyons practices general OB/GYN and enjoys her varied practice of caring for obstetric and gynecology patients. She cares for both low risk and high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Lyons is experienced in providing a full range of care including treatment for abnormal bleeding, menopause, contraception, fertility, pelvic pain and abnormal pap smears. She appreciates the advancements in medicine that allow her to offer a minimally invasive approach to the majority of her surgeries, allowing patients a more rapid recovery and a quick return to the workplace.
Dr. Lyons enjoys learning about people from other countries and their cultures. As a nurse she spent time in Central America. While in medical school she was chosen for an international health fellowship and spent 8 months in Nigeria. Dr. Lyons and her husband have traveled with their 2 daughters to Central America and Europe and look forward to more travels in the future. They enjoy being active and in the outdoors; biking, skiing and camping.
